How-to · Writing a message
Attach an image
Send a picture with a message, from a file dialog, the clipboard or a drag onto the composer.
You want to send a picture along with a message.
- To use a file dialog, press the composer's attach-image control and pick a picture.
- To use the clipboard, paste an image.
- To drag an image in, drop it onto the composer. A Drop to attach overlay shows while the drag is over it.
- Whichever way it arrived, the image appears as a thumbnail above the composer.
- Press a thumbnail's own remove control to drop it before sending.
With a Google client saved in Settings, the attach-image control opens a menu. Choose From this computer… for a file dialog, or see Attach a picture from Google Photos.
Pasting text alongside an image still types the text normally. Only an actual image on the clipboard attaches.
Every engine takes an attachment. Gemini, DeepSeek and Claude API cannot carry a picture in
the message itself. Turret writes it into the session's working directory under
.turret/attachments/ and tells the session where to find it. Those files stay on disk, and a
.gitignore beside them keeps the directory out of git status.
