Install the design skill

Write the CAD design skill into a repository, and install the CAD runtime a session needs.

You have opened a session in CAD mode on a repository for the first time and want it ready to design with.

  1. Look at the session header, above the transcript. A CAD skill missing chip appears there when the repository has no CAD design skill. It reads CAD skill outdated when the skill is older than this build of Turret.
  2. Press the chip, then Install skill in the note it opens. Turret writes the skill's files into the repository and the chip goes away. An outdated skill's note offers Update skill instead.
  3. Look at the pane beside the transcript (a narrow window shows it under a Viewer tab instead). A band appears there if CAD mode's runtime is not yet installed on this machine.
  4. Press Set up CAD mode. Turret downloads the runtime and names each step as it runs. The band clears when the install finishes.

The chip and the band are independent. A repository with a current skill shows no chip. A machine with the runtime already installed shows no band.

CAD mode runs on macOS on Apple Silicon, on Windows on x64 and on Linux on x64. On another machine, the band names why and offers nothing to press.

See Modes for what CAD mode adds to a session.
