Turn a built-in tool off
Switch off one of Claude's built-in tools for every session in this app.
You want a specific built-in tool unavailable to every Claude session in this app.
- Open Settings and the Claude tab.
- Scroll past Output style and Permissions to Tools.
- Uncheck the tool's own checkbox within its group.
- The screen saves the change immediately, showing a Saved. line and how many tools are now off.
The change is Claude-only and app-wide. It reaches a session already running only the next time that session spawns a subprocess.
See Built-in tools for what each tool does, and Settings for the Claude tab's other fields.
