Open a session on a git worktree

Give a new session its own git worktree instead of the folder's current checkout.

You want a session's changes isolated on their own branch, without touching the folder's current checkout.

  1. On the New Session screen, pick a folder whose repository can take a worktree. Turret never offers a worktree for a fork.
  2. Tick Open on a new worktree.
  3. Edit Worktree and branch name if you want something other than Turret's own suggestion.
  4. Press Create.

A repository configuring its own WorktreeCreate hook can place the worktree somewhere other than the default location. Without a hook, the worktree lands where What a session leaves on disk describes.

The Automations job editor carries a separate worktree control of its own. Its plain checkbox opens every run of the job on a fresh worktree, named by the runner rather than typed by hand.

See Start a session on a folder for the rest of this screen.

See What a session leaves on disk for where a worktree session's files end up.
