Sign in to Tailscale

Sign Turret in to your Tailscale account so your other machines and your browser reach it from any network.

You want your other machines running Turret, and the Turret app on your phone, to reach this Turret from any network.

Turret joins your tailnet on its own, so the Tailscale app does not need to be installed on this machine. Signing in needs a Tailscale account, and a new tailnet is free for personal use.

  1. Open Settings and the Accounts tab. Tailscale is the first entry.
  2. Press Sign in to Tailscale. Your browser opens Tailscale's sign-in page, and the section reads Waiting for you to sign in to Tailscale in your browser….
  3. Sign in with the account your other machines use. Tailscale's page says this machine is connected.
  4. Return to Turret. The section reads Connected, with the account you signed in as and this machine's name on your tailnet.

If the page did not open, press Open the page again. To sign in in a different browser or on another device, copy the address shown under the waiting line and open it there. Cancel stops the sign-in.

Keep the sign-in alive

A machine's Tailscale key expires after a long while. For a fortnight before, the section says when, and offers Sign in again. Press it while you are at this machine, because a machine whose key has expired leaves your tailnet until someone signs in at it.

Use Tailscale switches Turret's connection off and on without signing out. Sign out takes this machine off your tailnet at once, and Sign in to Tailscale puts it back.

See Pair two machines for pairing, and Settings for the Accounts tab.
